May 2015

Our season begins on Friday May 1st, just in time for the Door County Half Marathon on Saturday.  We have shuttle service for participants and spectators to and from the run, free of cost. The run is held at the beautiful Peninsula State park and begins at 10 a.m. and is planned to end around 1:30 p.m., food and drinks will be provided after the race. You can check their website www.doorcountyhalfmarathon.com for more details. If you don’t already have accommodations with us, there’s still time! We are currently running a special for Marathon Weekend, which saves you 15% off your rate each night.

The month of May has quite a few events for you to take advantage of. All month long we’re celebrating the Festival of Blossoms, a county wide celebration of spring. The event includes food, music, tours and arts and crafts. It’s a great way to spend time with the whole family and soak up some sun. If you like locally produced Door County wines and you have a sweet tooth, on May 10th at Bistro 42 there will be a Wine & Chocolate Pairing class. Seating is limited so make sure you give them a call ahead of time 1-800-551-5049! The weekend of May 16-17 is another opportunity for you to enjoy the local wines of Door County. The Door County Wine Trail will take you to all seven local wineries, tours, food, music and tastings will be provided. For more info and to schedule a spot on the tour visit www.doorcountywinetrail.com. If you’re looking for something to do later in the day, on May 24-25 is the Ghost Tour of Door County. It’s a two hour long tour through all the spookier places in town. On the tour you’ll see sunken ships, haunted light houses and hear about other local legends and mysteries. You can buy tickets online at www.doorcountytrolley.com

If you’re planning your trip with us and would like some suggestions on thing to do and places to eat, our local and friendly staff is always ready and willing to help you. We look forward to seeing you soon!
